Appleton Estate 15 Year Old Black River Casks is named after the Black River, which begins at the Appleton Estate and runs down a series of tributaries 33 miles to the sea. The waterway played an integral part in the evolution of Jamaica's rum and sugar industries.
This blend of rare and hand-selected pot and column still rums have all been aged for a minimum of 15 years in the tropical climate of Jamaica. Some components are from casks that are up to 50 years old. Ageing for a minimum of 15 years in the tropics is equivalent to approximately 45 years of ageing in a temperate climate.
The 15 Year Old Black River Casks reveals aromas of toasted almond and delicate hazelnut, followed by notes of intense orange peel, rich vanilla, and subtle hints of medium roasted coffee and molasses.
This rich, full-bodied rum is created by our highly acclaimed Master Blender, Joy Spence, the first woman to be appointed Master Blender in the spirits industry. To fully savour 15 Year Old Black River Casks, Joy suggests opening the bottle and giving the spirit a moment to breathe. You may wish to savour it neat or on the rocks, in an ample Cognac snifter, to appreciate the rum's luscious flavours. An ice cube or two can extend the experience by a few moments.
