Key Selling Points
A warm early spring led to an earlier than average budburst, conditions cooled through December until Christmas. January began with a period of heat, but this cooled through mid to late January. February whilst having warm days maintained a lower night temperature. Towards the end of February daytime temperatures increased allowing for a rapid end to harvest. The result was a very early ripening vintage of exceptional quality. Produced from two separate blocks from the same vineyard post-harvest the grapes were de-stemmed and crushed to open and static fermenters. The individual parcels spent bet ween 12 and 19 days on skins depending on the attributes of each parcel. After pressing and settling each parcels was sent to French oak malolactic fermentation with 50% first use barrels being used. Post malo the individual parcels are racked separately before being returned on the same barrels. Blending occurred in September 2016, each barrel was assessed for quality and appropriateness of wine style with only those best suited being utilised in the final blend. The wine was further matured in bottle prior to release.
