Jose Cuervo is currently the number one tequila producer in the world, and the Cuervo brand is one of the eight most famous brands in the world in the production of spirits. The history of Jose Cuervo began in 1758, when King Ferdinand VI of Spain granted permission to Don Jose Antonio de Cuervo y Valdés to use a plot of land located near the city of Tequila. In 1795, Jose Antonio de Cuervo y Valdés received a license for the commercial production and sale of tequila, becoming the first official tequila producer in Mexico.
