The Legend of the 400 Rabbits: According to the ancient mesoamerican myth, priests were the only allowed to communicate with the gods. To do this, they altered their consciousness by drinking agave based beverages that were exclusive for religious ceremonies. The “Drinking Gods” were called in náhuatl “Centzon-Totochin” (400 Rabbits). The number 400 was a synonym for countless and infinite. It was believed that when drinking this beverages, the spirit of 400 Rabbits possessed your body, and your behavior depended on the rabbit that was taking over you at that moment.
